Rohaizad Shaari

b. 1969, Kedah, Malaysia

Rohaizad Shaari is a celebrated Malaysian watercolourist whose practice is deeply entwined with the rustic charm and memory of his home state, Kedah. A graduate of UiTM Shah Alam (1992), Shaari has spent decades capturing the silent narratives of rural Malaysian life with exquisite precision.

He is perhaps best known for his "Gerek" series, where the abandoned bicycle serves as a profound metaphor for the human condition and the passage of time. His work often elevates ordinary, weathered objects into symbols of guardianship, preserving the quiet dignity of a life lived close to the land.
